Biography

Dr. Wells has been an educator for nearly 30 years.  His experience in education ranges from early childhood education, public school elementary teaching and administration to currently higher education.  Tyler holds degrees in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, School Administration, and a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership and Innovation.

Dr. Wells began as an adjunct at Â鶹ÊÓƵ in 2001 in the College of Education instructing school leadership and clinical Practicum coursework.  In 2012, Dr. Wells became Program Chair in the Office of Clinical Studies in the College of Education, then Director of Teacher Preparation, Community Outreach, and Partnerships in 2022, and is currently the Dean of the College of Education and Liberal Arts.

During his time at Â鶹ÊÓƵ, Dr. Wells has emphasized the importance of stakeholder partnerships in the K-12 realm.  This is evidenced by the development of the nationally recognized and multimillion dollar grant awarded full immersion, partnership based, Year-Long Residency (YLR) model as an alternative approach to traditional teacher preparation clinical preparation.
