Biotechnology is a dynamic field with wide-ranging implications, from medicine to ecological conservation. This certificate program in biotechnology equips students with the necessary skills to excel in the biotech industry. The program uses computational tools and covers coursework in cell culture, proteomics, and immunology. Students will also explore topics such as genetic engineering and DNA extraction.
The Biotechnology Certificate consists of twenty-one (21) undergraduate credits. Interested students must consult with an academic advisor and/or Natural Sciences program chair to plan the appropriate course sequencing and selection. The courses may be completed within a baccalaureate program at Â鶹ÊÓƵ.
In addition to the University’s undergraduate graduation competencies, students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate understanding of bioinformatics and genetic analyses, which are areas core in the study and performance of biotechnology;
2. Apply core laboratory techniques essential to biotechnology;
3. Demonstrate effective communication of biotechnology through written and oral communication.
The certificate is open to the following prospective students with an interest in biotechnology:
• High School graduate, and/ or;
• Associate Degree graduate, and/ or;
• Â鶹ÊÓƵ undergraduate students in a degree-seeking program upon advisement from a program chair and/or an academic advisor.
Students must complete an undergraduate application for admission accompanied by a non-refundable admission fee.
