Notable Features and Accomplishments
Â鶹ÊÓƵ's teacher preparation programs began in the early 1990's with a focus on teaching as a profession for the future. Therefore, teacher preparation programs were initially designed to produce teachers who teach the whole child in a developmentally appropriate manner, attend to personal needs of students whether in the context of their families or in the best learning style for them, adjust for inclusive models of instruction, apply methods of assessment that relate to the teaching and learning process, and to collaborate with other professionals for the benefit of their students. Teacher training at Â鶹ÊÓƵ was initially designed to be standards-based and practice-oriented. From the beginning, the University has recruited and hired faculty who also practice these principles.
